Shieltronics was founded in 2001 as a daughter company of RPC, Research Program Counselling. RPC is active in a variety of technical fields, either on contract basis for third parties or direct for its own benefit, specializing in the areas of chemistry, physics and laboratory analyses. After first carrying out a feasibility study to verify the idea of selectively heating up food ingredients by means of microwave energy the (potential) market has been approached to see whether and how this idea would be adopted. Concluding that this innovation was very well appreciated, the basis was formed to found Shieltronics. In 2005 the final decision was taken to transit all R&D-efforts into a product scale up resulting in the ability to selectively reheat food components. This so called CuliDish concept was developed in the same year, with support of third parties and co-suppliers. Its production will be granted to third parties on basis of licence agreements using the intellectual proprietary rights solely belonging to Shieltronics.
